About Laura Waller, MS, LPC, NCC, ADHD-CCSP

Laura is a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia. She has a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University.  Laura is also an ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider with hours of continuing education regarding the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD.  

Laura enters the counseling field from an education background.  Having a Masters in Elementary Education from Johns Hopkins University, Laura taught in elementary schools in D.C. and North Carolina.  Working full time in the school system ignited a passion in Laura to help ensure that all children and families have the tools they need to feel successful.

Laura's approach to counseling is person centered - understanding that for positive change to occur, there must be a strong relationship of trust between the counselor and the client.  Laura's background in education provides a unique developmental perspective when working with children and teens. Laura works to create an atmosphere of comfort, safety, and respect with all clients.

Laura is a member of NVLPC (Northern Virginia Licensed Professional Counseling), ACA (American Counseling Association), and Chi Sigma Iota (Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International).  She is available to work with children, teens and adults.

In her spare time Laura enjoys being with her husband, two children and family dog Moose (a licensed Emotional Support Animal who can be found in the Burke office).  When they are not hiking local NOVA trails, her family is usually pool side as both children participate in swimming and diving.
